"The more I see the less I know"*
I find that as my education progresses and I continue to learn and expand my wealth of knowledge, I find that, that which I know becomes more and more insignificant as I find troves and deep wells of knowledge and information which I do not know. My "wealth of knowledge " becomes superficial in comparison to all that I see and do not know and do not understand. As time progresses, I learn more and comprehend more, and as I do so, I discover yet more that I do not know and my superficial knowledge is rendered minute and insignificant. This would support both specialization and generalization of one's self for by this phenomenon, it is, or is seemingly, impossible to know everything.

A Psalm of Thanksgiving
24th of November 2011
Oh Sovereign Lord, I called to you by night. I was naught but mere bones wandering through the barren waste. I called to you by day as the sun beat down upon me and scorched my skin. My tongue was like worn leather upon my lips. I longed for your presence Lord. Oh Sovereign Lord amidst my doubts and fears, my sorrows and pains, you came down to me. A droplet of Living water would have sufficed me but you fill my cup to the brim. The enemy was at the gates. Those that wished to injure me were before me. Defenseless and unarmed they surrounded me. I cried to you, oh Sovereign Lord! You heard my cry and came to my aid. Your righteous right hand vanquished my foes. Your holy left hand healed my sores and burns. Your all consuming fire has redeemed my soul. Truly you Lord deserve all honor, praise and thanksgiving! The sound of your glorious name moves mountains into the seas. You are the king of kings and the redeemer of my soul. You are my savior. I was nothing a wretched soul in the meaningless wasteland. By your great good grace you lifted me up, dusted me off and threw me in the the refining fire where I now stand. You have blessed me with fellowship among the flames. Blessed me with brothers and sisters in you. Together we praise you, in good times and in bad for, according to your promise to work all things to our ultimate good for your glory. You provide for me always, though I may not see it at all times you are always faithful. Truly the Sovereign Lord blesses and keeps his people. Praise be to Him the Lord of all creation and giver of all blessings. Amen.

A Psalm of Lament
17th October 2011
Oh Sovereign Lord, my God, why have you forsaken me? I was once in green fields, beneath tall trees resting in their cool shade. Indeed I was once pastured beside deep pools of life giving water. Why oh Lord have you forsaken me? I roam listlessly through the barren desert. I am reduced to mere bones as I wander the meaningless wasteland. Have I not served you oh Sovereign Lord? Have I not executed your commands to the letter? I am but a deaf man in a lone room. Though I cry out to you oh sovereign Lord, you do not answer me. Indeed Lord I call out by day and by night and still you are silent Lord. when the armies of the enemy surround me, I cry out for you Lord. Yet thou are my vision lord, my best thought by day and by night. Awake or asleep thy presence is my light. As I walk through utter darkness thy light is a lamp to my feet. I know that you will deliver me from my enemies. All that wish to injure me will be vanquished by thy right hand like jars of clay dashed by an iron rod. Oh high king of heaven, my victory won, may I reach heaven, oh bright heavens sun. Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, still be my vision oh ruler of all.

The Jack of All Trades Theory
Nominally it is called generalism, though this name does the meaning no justice. I find it appropriate and wise to have experience in many things, though master of a few. This is the cause for the author's interest in everything and anything. Being a jack of all trades has many advantages first and fore most, it grants one the ability to aid more communities and individuals than one would be able to as a “specialist”. Next it benefits the individual “jack”. It increases his attractiveness to be hired, increases the amount of different jobs one could apply for as well as flushes out his resumé. Furthermore it is always to his benefit to be able to have a wise and educated word in all topics of conversation.

As to the loyalty of rebels to their cause, not a single rebel should chastise or accuse an other of disloyalty to the cause. Each Man and Woman has his or her own responsibilities pertaining to his or her own life, work or family. Therefore, should he or she be threatened with arrest, it is to be wholly understood if many would lay down the cause. This is not disloyalty, it is responsibility. [The Author has the "Occupy" movement in mind.]

Rebellion, is a most interesting phenomenon. It causes nominally rational people to do irrational things. The rebellion of youth against authority is a prime example of this, however some might argue that youth is not rational. Rebellion against rebellion it's self, though perceived merely as loyalty to authority or a lack of courage to rebel, is also a form of rebellion. It is a rebellion, in which one disagrees more strongly with the rebel movement than the authority against which there is rebellion, Disagreement with the powers that be, though may wholly be evident with the "loyalist's" sentiments.

Perception strangely passes for absolute truth. Most seem to care not for the facts behind an event or circumstance but bother themselves with it only long enough to have an opinion. This opinion is then viewed by one's specific predisposition and or prejudices. Very rarely do we take the time to investigate, pursue and confirm all the details. In this way are innocent actions construed and transformed into Felonies and the most vile of deeds seen as naught but innocence.

The 4th Estate of Power (the media) has an interesting position in the United States compared to other governments I have observed. Though via the Media, the Government is kept in check, to an extent at least. It seems that the Media also elevates politicians to the level of celebrities, which skews the political system entirely when the time to elect a president arrives. The populous, at least a percentage of them, then votes for one or the other candidate out of purely unpolitical reason. (e.g. It's popular to vote for the one or the other, or one finds Candidate "A" to be more attractive than Candidate "B" and therefore votes for Candidate "A".

It seems to me that there is nothing simple. Many things can be simplified, though to understand them in their truest state, the whole, unsimplified version is required. I've come to find that no matter how much you simplify events, thought processes and Circumstances, it will be impossible, or close to it, to fully understand who, what, how and why I am what I am. I however, don't begin to assume, that even I, who is privy to all, or at least most of the above mentioned information, knows entirely who, what, how ans why I am what I am.

It would seem to me that many an old and mature believer in our christian Faith should write a statement of faith so that they, who already are firm in faith may precisely state their concrete convictions in this matter of Faith. The benefits of such a statement are numerous. One of which, to have a firm basis of argument should it come to a discussion of belief or to infighting and argument among fellow christians. This however is by no means standard, only a suggestion.

Much of life seems to be to be a touch-and-go game of knowing when to formulate and implement plans and when to let it all go and let the Lord implement his divine Plan. For it is wholly impractical to have no plans at all for the future, this can lead to a complete dissociation from life and society which is decidedly unhealthy. On the other hand, having and making too many plans of one's own creation creates a state of rushing from one event to the next where by the hustle and chaos that thus ensues. In this state, the Lord's calling and plans become, in the most extreme case, drowned out entirely. Therefore the Author recommends not only playing this game of touch-and-go but presenting all things to the Lord and in all decision making and planning one's Moral rules be adhered to.

We are but Sinner Saints for we are born into this World as Sinners but through the great good Grace of God made holy. Similarly, the church is in no way, shape or form perfect, for it is made up of imperfect people, the very best of which are naught but Sinner Saints. A popular thought in my time puts it quite well: "Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future." No one is perfect, yet in our imperfection there is Hope in Jesus Christ's Resurrection.

Time: Taking time for one anothers needs and to be there for the other. Without Trust, every relationship will falter and ultimately disintegrate. Like wise without communication, any relationship will fail. Bad communication leads to misunderstandings. Misunderstandings lead to foolish actions which cause permanent damage to a relationship. This damage ironically can be repaired through communication. Without Common Interest be it in the relationship or other subjects, then the relationship will be strained. Without Mutual Respect of any sort, lines wont me defined. Without lines and boundries, things will be said and done which result in extensive permanent damage in the relationship. So, we see that if we miss anyone of these, the relationship will fall apart.

Attending church is time for the faithful to gather and worship the Lord. These are but a few afflictions of the church today. There is great need for reformation. Unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world.

I know not whether presenting an old dispute to the young generation, who is currently unaware of the dispute and it's history, is the better way to resolve the dispute than to leave the history in the past so that the young generation can present new Ideas and possible solutions to the dispute. However, if the history is left behind, then the young generation may not be aware that a dispute even exists. Thus ensues a paradox.

Therefore, a policy of "If they don't ask, I won't tell" is to be adopted. Even here though, discretion is advised. Discretion from this point or policy is to be left to the practitioner. Choosing to omit certain, "uncomfortable" or inconvienient details is not to be seen as lying unless these details are specifically asked for.

Life is borrowed time, provided the Christian thoughts and teachings are to be believed. Then, in concurance with the Thoughts of Blaise Pascal on the subject, one would strive to make the most out of the time one is given. To every day, live it to ("the max") the best possible. Not the sentiment of "Carpe Diem" however. Although not a malevolent sentiment, it is not practical, for it is almost impossible to seize every chance provided every day. It is then sensible to live the best you can, every day and no one should be to ask more of you. However, this is no excuse for laziness. Honesty with one's self is a necessity to implement this mind set.

Preamble
October 2011
About a year or so ago, I was required to read the best part of Blaise Pascal's Pensées. I really enjoyed them, especially "the Wager". In anycase, I was greatly inspired by Pascal's work, so much so that I shortly thereafter decided to begin my own work of "Thoughts*". These thoughts are meant to be shared discussed and mulled over, some might serve as a social commentary of our day and age, others might entirely be ageless wisdoms, regurtitated and recycled and some how found their way into my pen and on to the paper. Since the 19th of Febuary 2011, I have penned 32 of these "pensées", with the hope of many more yet to come.
*Pensées is French for Thoughts, Pascal himself being a Frenchman. As a Citizen of a country who has French as one of it's national languages, I found it fitting to do so, though "Gedanken" or "Thoughts" would have been appropriate as well.
